Working as an independent contractor
Jun 5, 2004

Contract positions on this site pay an hourly rate without benefits. As a contractor you are responsible for your own income tax, self-employment tax and health insurance, so an hourly rate should be at least 30 percent higher than the equivalent salary.

Keep every receipt. Home office, mileage, software and training are deductible when you file Schedule C.
