How to write a resume that gets read
May 16, 2004

Recruiters spend about fifteen seconds on a first pass through a resume. Put your name, city, phone and email at the top, follow with a two-line objective, and list your experience in reverse chronological order with the employer, title and dates on one line.

Use short bullet points that start with a verb and end with a result: "Reduced inventory shrink 18% in twelve months" says more than "Responsible for loss prevention." Keep it to one page if you have less than ten years of experience, two pages otherwise, and print it on plain white paper.
